About KATE

K.A.T.E. IM Avatar Character SystemLeveraging the Global IPC, this application (code name KATE) brings together the advanced Instant Messaging system from Sonork and the lifelike avatars from Haptek. KATE links this virtual reality technology with the Sonork client to enable living, winking, breathing custom avatars that speak the messages coming and going through the Sonork messenger.

Using a SAPI text-to-speech engine, the character reads the text typed through the Sonork messenger, along with incoming messages spoken by the sender's character

Supports customizing the Avatar’s appearance, shape, size, voice and background through an extensive set of preloaded options

Includes automatic animations and moods for all favorite emoticon, such as :) , ;), :-O, J, etc.

Custom 3D avatars can be created choosing from several shape, skins and character settings included.

Changes in this version:

1) added a check to see if the mrf file has the proper target # of vertices. to support future version of putty that might not have the standard head. 2) added some helpfull text on the emote pannel with instructions on how to use them3) added a button on the Avatar Setup panel that opens a helpfile about the tts system and how to get more voices.4) added a page in the preferences that links to people putty information about making your own characters5) added links to tts help, and putty info pages in help file6) fixed bug where when user presses F1, no help came up. Now the help file comes up.7) updated Haptek vf4 installer to version 4.11.39, includes MANY bug fixes over the previous included vf4 installer.
